Objectives:

1.    To explore bio-inspired photonics and applications.

2.    To explore nano-particle dispersed devices for tunable colors.

3.    To develop AR coating using self-assembly bio-inspired photonics, e.g., moth eye effect.

Recent Accomplishments:

1.    Demonstrated an all-optical switch based on the photo-induced birefringenceinbacteriorhodopsin film.

2.    Demonstrated electrically and chemically actuated biosensors.

3.    Developed new liquid crystal biosensors.
